Another option is to fly to Athens (ATH), which is furthest from Pelion and requires you to get from the airport into Athens railway or bus station and probably involves a stopover in Athens.
From Athens airport, take Bus X95 or the metro to Syntagma square or Omonia Square where there are many budget hotels.
- Train Station – Metro “Stathmos Larissis”
It is a beautiful 5 ½ hr train ride from Athens to Volos via a change at Larissa. However, Greek trains can only be pre-booked via a personal appearance at the train station and are often fully booked on Fridays.
- Bus Station – 260 Liossion str. near Metro “Attiki”
The bus from Athens takes 4 ½ hrs and can be booked in advance by phone (# +30 24210 33254 or +30 24210 25527).
